Victory RR Took Second Place at Isle of Man SES TT Zero Race

Improvements to the Victory RR were made before this year’s race and with William Dunlop at the helm Victory Racing managed to come in second place, an improvement compared to Johnston finishing in third place last year.

Small tweaks were made during the practice phase; final drive gearing improvements, Metzeler RaceTec K2 tyre pressure changes and the front-end suspension was adjusted by the K-Tech Suspension team.

What’s more interesting are the updates made before the testing TT test laps began. The Victory RR received a substantial overhaul to both its body and the engine housed under that new steel trellis frame. Its power has been increased from 150hp to 170hp and this kind of power was actually what the Empulse RR was producing at the 2013 TTXGP world championship before it had to be detuned for durability sake. Matching the increase in power is the 529 lb bike’s 177 lb-ft of torque.

Also new is the battery design with improved energy capacity and energy density. Battery technology, especially lithium-ion battery, is always improving year by year and with the Victory RR at the helm we could be seeing batteries proving greater performance and range in commercial electric motorcycles at a lower cost.

We could see some of the Victory RR technology trickle down into mass produced models like the Charger in the near future.

This is what I like to see and I think most future owners on the forum now will have their confidence of the bike grow with the brand getting involved in things like this.

Will be interesting to see what sort of technology trickles down to production.
